My brother Mark and I haven’t been on our bicycles for several weeks because we’ve been busy with my father’s recent move to an assisted living facility. This morning, Mark and I found some time for a short bike ride.
We racked our bikes on my car’s rack and drove to the grounds of the old Alameda Naval Air Station, where our father worked for decades. The naval base there is closed, but the old streets there are open and traffic is extremely light so it is a great place for a short bike ride on a Sunday morning. I captured video of today’s ride with a GoPro camera mounted on my bicycle’s handlebars.
Today’s ride was approximately 9 miles long and lasted a little less than an hour. That short ride was perfect because it was our first ride in several weeks and we didn’t want to overdo it with a longer ride. The next time that we ride here, we’ll stretch the distance by including a round trip on the bike trail that runs along the shoreline at Alameda Beach.
