I’ve been on the road all day. This morning I drove from my home in Castro Valley to Jamestown, Twain Harte, Sonora, and Murphys. In the late afternoon I reached my last stop of the day in Angels Camp where I checked in at a hotel for a two night stay.

Angels Camp is the only incorporated city in Calaveras County, California. Angels Camp was made famous by Mark Twain’s short story, “The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County”. Angels Camp holds a Jumping Frog Jubilee every May to celebrate its history as “Frogtown”. As you might have guessed, frog symbolism is visible everywhere in Angels Camp.

My hotel in Angels Camp will serve as my home base during my three day and two night visit to California’s Gold Country and Yosemite National Park.
