My father celebrated another birthday this week. He is 87 years old. He’s lived with me for 9 years now. He stopped driving a few months ago, so he is depends on me and the rest of the family to take him places. I take him out to breakfast a couple of times each week. That boosts his spirits and gets him out of the house. This morning we had breakfast at my favorite local greasy spoon joint, Val’s Burgers in Hayward.
I’ll be working the next two days, so Dad will be stuck in my house for the next 48 hours unless he takes a walk or two in the neighborhood. On Friday, when I’m not working, we’ll go out to breakfast again and I’ll drive him to the local bowling alley where he participates in a weekly tournament.
