When we departed Rickwood Field yesterday afternoon, we drove from Birmingham, Alabama to Chattanooga, Tennessee. The drive lasted 2.5 hours. The drive also brought us from the central time zone to the eastern time zone, so we lost an hour on route. We checked in at our hotel in Chattanooga at 7:30 PM local time for a 3 night stay.

Today was a much needed day of rest in the middle of our vacation. We slept in at our hotel, watched the U.S. World Cup match vs. Germany at noon, and then walked a few blocks to get lunch. After walking back to our hotel, we relaxed for a few more hours. In the evening we walked about 200 feet from our hotel to AT&T Field, home of the Chattanooga Lookouts of the class AA Southern League, to attend a ballgame. The Chattanooga Lookouts hosted the Pensacola Blue Wahoos.

For the second time on this vacation, we were treated to extra innings. It took 11 innings for Pensacola to defeat Chattanooga by a score of 3-2. Box Score

Today we had a day of relaxing and an evening of baseball. We’ll dedicate tomorrow to sightseeing in Chattanooga and at nearby Lookout Mountain.
