Today, as on most Wednesdays, I met my old friend and co-worker Dave at Willow Pass Park in Concord to play pickleball. Most recreational pickleball is played as doubles, and Dave and I were hoping to mix in with 2 other players for doubles today. That didn’t happen. The other players on the courts today had their own set foursomes and they didn’t seem open to the idea of having us join them, so Dave and I played singles. I enjoy playing singles anyway, and the more I play singles the more I like it. Playing singles is a great cardio workout.

Dave and I played several games of singles today. Since one of the proposed rule changes for pickleball in 2022 could introduce “rally scoring”, where you don’t have to be serving to score a point, Dave and I decided to play a few games of singles with rally scoring. When we used rally scoring, we played to 21 points instead of 11.
