This morning we checked out of our motel in Manchester, New Hampshire and began a long day’s drive across New Hampshire and Vermont that would take us to New York. The highlight of this day was our visit to historic Fort Ticonderoga. Fort Ticonderoga is located on the south west shore of Lake Champlain, near the town of Ticonderoga, New York.

We started our visit to Fort Ticonderoga at the visitor center, then we proceeded to check out the perimeter of the fort. Finally, we entered the main gate of the fort to see the interior buildings and structures.

Fort Ticonderoga holds a prominent place in North American military history. Fort Ticonderoga was built by the French and Canadians, taken by the British, and later taken by the Americans.
