Tonight in Helena, Montana we attended a Pioneer League game featuring the Helena Brewers and the Billings Mustangs.

Helena’s ballpark, Kindrick Legion Field, was built in 1932 and holds only 2,100 people. One rare and strange characteristic of the ballpark is the direction that it faces. Home plate to first base is west, which puts the sun in the batter’s eyes. In modern ballparks, home plate to first base is east.

We enjoyed the sitting in this old ballpark in Helena, despite the lack of modern comforts. We also ejoyed the weather and the scenery at the ballgame in Helena. The final score was Helena 8, Billings 5. Box Score

After the game we returned to our motel in Helena to get some much needed rest. We had a long day that started at Idaho Falls, Idaho and included visits to Butte, Montana and the Montana State Capitol in Helena. Then we had the ballgame in the evening. That’s a lot of stuff to squeeze in to a single day!
