Today, my brother Mark and I spent another morning on our bicycles in nearby Dublin and San Ramon. At 7:00 AM we had our bikes loaded on my car’s rack and we drove east to the Diablo Valley. We parked in the lot at the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station where we unloaded our bikes, and we were pedaling away at 7:30 AM.
We rode north on the Iron Horse Trail and then east on the Alamo Creek Trail to the end of that trail in Dublin, near Old Ranch Park on Old Ranch Road. From there, we rode west to Alcosta Boulevard, Thunderbird Drive, and Pine Valley Road to rejoin the Iron Horse Trail near the Dublin-San Ramon border. We usually avoid pedaling on city streets and stick to the trails where cars are prohibited, but on this early Sunday morning the streets of Dublin were abandoned and we had to the roads to ourselves.
We continued north on the Iron Horse Trail until it reached Crow Canyon Road in San Ramon, where we stopped briefly for breakfast. Then we turned around and headed south on the Iron Horse Trail to return to my car at the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station, where we racked our bikes and drove home.
We pedaled a total of 16.1 miles today and we were home just before 10:00 AM.
