Louisville Bats Baseball

After visiting the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory across town during the afternoon, we headed to Louisville Slugger Field to attend a class AAA International League game between the Gwinnett Braves and the Louisville Bats.

Gwinnett defeated Louisville, 7-1. Box Score

The ballgame was rather dull. Fortunately, this game in Louisville was the only class AAA game on this vacation. Class AAA baseball is my least favorite brand of minor league baseball, for several reasons:

  • The class AAA ballparks are large, compared to class AA and class A, so the setting is less intimate and you’re usually further away from the action.
  • In class AAA there are many players in their 30s who are on their way down in their careers. In class AA and class A you get younger, up-and-coming players.
  • Everything is expensive in class AAA ball. You get major league pricing, but you aren’t getting major league baseball. At class AAA Louisville, a team cap will set you back $30!

After we left the ballpark we drove back to our hotel on the Indiana side of the Ohio River. We relaxed for the rest of the day and evening.
