We checked out of our Billings, Montana motel at 8 AM today and began our long drive across eastern Montana to reach North Dakota. We had 280 miles to drive to reach Medora, North Dakota. Most of those miles were within Montana.
Compared to the mountain terrain of western Montana that we drove through during the last few days, the terrain of eastern Montana that we saw today was fairly flat. We didn’t cross any mountain passes today.
When we departed Montana and entered North Dakota in the early afternoon, we headed to Medora and the visitor center at Theodore Roosevelt National Park. In the visitor center, we watched a short film about the park and checked out the museum exhibits.
Our next stop was downtown Medora. We made stops at the Medora Post Office and at a local ice cream shop.
We spent about 45 minutes in downtown Medora, and then we resumed our drive east on I-94.
