Orem Owlz

At 7 PM we settled into Brent Brown Ballpark in Orem, Utah to watch the Orem Owlz host the Casper Ghosts in a Pioneer League baseball game.

Tonight’s game is the first of eight Pioneer League games that we’ll attend during this 16 day vacation. The Pioneer League is a rookie league that’s affiliated with Major League Baseball. The players in the Pioneer League are professionals but they are very young (mostly 18 to 22 years old) and they are just starting their quest to move up in the minor league ranks and eventually become major league baseball players. Fewer than 1 in 10 of these players will play major league baseball, but at this point they all have high hopes.

The ballgame moved along quickly. Orem defeated Casper, 3-2, despite being out-hit 6-3. That can happen when 2 of your 3 hits are triples. Box Score

Our first Pioneer League game in Orem, Utah was an outstanding experience. If you’re in the Salt Lake City area during the summer, go to Orem and take in a ballgame.

What is Shannon doing wearing a hoody in 91 degree heat? I offer two responses to that question, one from me and one from Shannon.

Me: I have no idea why teenage girls do what they do.

Shannon: You didn’t come with us so you don’t get to talk about my clothes.

  2. some of your pics almost look like paintings, the ones with the mountains in the background. And, what is Shannon doing wearing a hoody in the 91 degree heat?
