Tyson McGuffin Camp

Photos and video from a Tyson McGuffin pickleball camp in Las Vegas.

Last week I drove from the San Francisco Bay Area to Las Vegas with my girlfriend Amy. We spent 5 nights in Las Vegas where I participated in a Tyson McGuffin Pickleball Camp on October 10 & 11. On each day of the 2-day camp, participants enjoyed 6 hours of pickleball drilling and instruction with professional pickleball players. Here’s the list of the pickleball coaches that ran the camp:

Tyson McGuffin is one of the top 5 pickleball players in the world. Getting pickleball instruction from Tyson is like getting a golf lesson from Tiger Woods or a tennis lesson from Rafael Nadal. The coaching staff that Tyson assembled for this camp was loaded with talent and experience. All of the coaches were excellent!

The first day of camp was dedicated to the soft game: Lift dinks, drop shots, defense, and block volleys. The second day of camp focused on offensive weapons: Punch volleys, roll volleys, drives, speed ups, push dinks, etc.

The camp experience was fantastic. This was my second Tyson McGuffin camp. My first was during July at Newport Beach, California.

During the 2 day camp I used my mobile phone to capture video every time that the pro coaches gathered us to explain and demonstrate specific skills and drills. I compiled all of those video clips into a single video, which I am sharing below. I’m also sharing some of my photos from the camp.

Here are a few notes about the video clip that I’m sharing below…

I’m not a professional with video or photography. At some points you’ll notice that I’m slow to move the camera and you’ll hear a coach speaking when that coach is not visible in the video frame. Just bear with it, it won’t last long before I wake up and make an adjustment.

The video does not show me or any other camp participants performing drills or playing games. The video consists of the instructions and demonstrations from the coaches, only.

On 12 occasions during the 2 day camp, the coaches gathered everybody around a demonstration court to discuss specific skills and drills. Typically, those demonstration sessions would last 10 to 15 minutes. I captured each of those 12 instructional discussions on video, and I’ve compiled them into a single video. The duration of the video is 2 hours and 37 minutes. Here are some approximate time stamps that you can use to find specific topics within the video:
