This evening we attended a ballgame at old historic Calfee Park in Pulaski, Virginia. The Pulaski Mariners play in the Appalachian League, which is a short-season rookie league.
In most cases, the players in the Appalachian League are playing their first season of professional minor league baseball. The players are young and talented. The Appalachian League ballparks are small, which puts the fans close to the action. You can hear the sounds of the game, and there are no video displays to distract you.
