We arrived at the Renaissance Hotel at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario at approximately 3:30 PM. That gave us plenty of time to unwind and relax in our rooms before tonight’s A’s game vs. Toronto at 7:00 PM.

Unfortunately, our two hotel rooms weren’t quite ready when we arrived. That was annoying, since check-in time was 3 PM (we were not early arrivals) and we’d just completed a 5 hour drive. While waiting for our rooms, we were asked to relax in the hotel’s Arriba Lounge and enjoy some on-the-house drinks. That’s exactly what we did.

It is easy to see why the Arriba Lounge is a popular hangout on game days.

One of our hotel rooms was ready at 4:00 PM, so we threw all of our stuff into that room while waiting for our second room to become available. Our second room wasn’t ready until almost 5:00 PM. I was ticked off about that. For a 2-night 2-room stay here, I’d be paying over a thousand dollars. At that cost, is it asking too much to expect entry into both of your rooms at the 3 PM check-in time? We were counting on having our beds available for a 2 to 3 hour nap before the ballgame, but it didn’t work out that way.

I liked the hotel, and the staff there was friendly and very apologetic, but the delayed check-in did irk me quite a bit. Fortunately, there was an A’s game tonight to take my mind off of the check-in delay.
