I had no plans today so I thought I’d take my camera with me on a leisurely Sunday drive. It was a rainy Sunday in the Bay Area. The wet weather is a mixed bag for my kind of Sunday drive, as the rain keeps a lot people off the roads but it also interferes with photo opportunities.
I left my home in Castro Valley at 7:30 AM and drove south to Santa Clara to visit the old residences of my relatives. From there, I headed to Saratoga, Boulder Creek, Ben Lomond, and finally to Santa Cruz before returning home. I was back in Castro Valley at 2:00 PM.
I enjoyed my Sunday drive but I was disappointed that the rains arrived several hours earlier than the morning’s forecasts predicted. The late morning rain that fell in the Santa Cruz Mountains was not supposed to arrive until mid-afternoon. I thought I’d have dry conditions for morning photography and then have a wet drive home in the afternoon. Unfortunately, the rain accompanied me almost continually from Saratoga to the outskirts of Santa Cruz. I would have taken many more photos if the conditions were dry.
