I haven’t done much since returning home from a long vacation in the middle of October, so I decided to take a brief road trip this weekend. During my last few years of vacationing, I earned a substantial amount of hotel rewards points. I had 2 free hotel nights that would expire at the end of this year if I didn’t use them, so I packed my camera gear and drove to Monterey for a two night stay.
I took a long route via San Francisco, Pacifica, Half Moon Bay, Santa Cruz, and Watsonville to reach Monterey. I stopped to take photos at several points on the way to Monterey, so my drive from Castro Valley to Monterey lasted about 5 hours.
I left Castro Valley at 9 AM and I checked in at my hotel in Monterey just after 2 PM and settled in to watch the Raiders game. Tomorrow I’ll drive south to see Point Lobos and then I’ll take the famous 17 Mile Drive through Pacific Grove, Carmel, and Pebble Beach.
