After spending the morning in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan, we drove south to the Indiana state line and continued rolling to South Bend, Indiana.
We arrived in South Bend at 3 PM and checked in at our motel. In the evening, we attended another Midwest League ballgame as the South Bend Silver Hawks hosted the Bowling Green Hot Rods. The weather was warm and slightly humid, but comfortable. Isolated thunderstorms were in the forecast and the game was delayed once by rain during the early innings. After that early rain delay of 18 minutes, no more drops were felt for the rest of the game.

The Silver Hawks trailed 1-0 after 5 innings, before tying the game in the 6th and then belting two home runs in the 7th to take the lead. The final score was South Bend 4, Bowling Green 2. Box Score
We enjoyed the South Bend Silver Hawks baseball experience, but they should get rid of the dreadful artificial playing surface and install some natural grass.
Tomorrow, we’ll leave Indiana and return to Illinois, and attend our third Midwest League game in three nights.
