This morning we took a tram ride to Amsterdam’s Dam Square where we’d take a guided walking tour of the city of Amsterdam. Our tour guide, Otto, was excellent. He knows the city and its history very well, he has a sense of humor, and he is a talented story teller. Otto led us on foot to several interesting sections of Amsterdam that we would never have seen via public transportation or canal tours.

The walking tour was tremendous. It lasted 2 hours and brought several small and historic districts of the city to our attention. The tour is free, but you are asked to leave a tip if you enjoyed the experience. We did enjoy it, and we left what I’d consider a quite generous tip.

After we completed our walking tour, we returned to Amsterdam Centraal station and hopped on a canal tour. We spent 90 minutes on the canals and then we were finished for the day.
