Strong winds howled throughout the Bay Area last night. Those winds uprooted a huge tree in my backyard. Fortunately, nobody was hurt. The large trunk of the tree fell into my backyard, narrowly missing my house. My roof may have been damaged by large branches, though.
As the tree fell, its roots destroyed a large section of a fence that I share with a neighbor. The roots also broke open a water pipe on my neighbor’s side of the property line. The long branches of the tree broke one of my dining room windows as it fell toward the backyard.

If the tree had fallen in the opposite direction it would have destroyed my neighbor’s deck and severely damaged her house.
If the tree had fallen a few degrees further south than it did, it would have hit my living room and endangered my brother and father. They were sitting in the living room when the tree fell.
