Amy’s First Ballgame

My girlfriend Amy and I attended an Oakland Athletics baseball game this afternoon.

This afternoon I took my girlfriend Amy to her first baseball game in Oakland. We watched the Oakland Athletics host the Kansas City Royals. Below, I’m sharing several photos and one video from today’s outing to the ballpark.

Amy enjoyed the experience today. The large number of empty seats did not bother her, nor did the A’s abysmal performance. The A’s managed just 2 hits and were shut out by the Royals by a final score of 4-0. Amy soaked in the sunshine, the music, the sights and sounds of the ballgame, and she enjoyed the ballpark food. She ate a hot dog and a soft pretzel and thought both items were delicious. I explained enough about the game to Amy so that she understood the concepts of “three strikes and you’re out”, “three outs and your inning is over”, and “if the defense catches the ball before it hits the ground then you’re out.” She caught on quite quickly!

The A’s and Royals are both having dreadful 2023 seasons which, along with the A’s intent to move to Las Vegas, helped keep the attendance down today. The official attendance today was 5,075 but that seems unrealistically high to me. I assume that the official attendance figure is a count of all tickets sold, as opposed to the count of the people that actually showed up.
